A day on holiday in Muğla

Muğla holiday is full of boats, beaches, and ancient cities. By the third or fourth day, people start to crave some action. A day on horseback is a good addition to the list. Caunos Horses is on the Çandır side of the Dalyan Canal. If you’re coming from Fethiye or Marmaris, the drive is a bit long; but you can fit it into a day, as long as you don’t add in a trip to İztuzu, Kaunos, and a three-hour combined tour.

For a short window, a spa or a farm will do, and for a half-day, a lake will suffice. If you ask us, don’t leave the horse for the last day; if the weather turns bad, you won’t have anywhere to shelter. It’s nice to have it all. If the kids are tired of the pool, a short farm stay is the softest item on the list. If the adults say they want nature, a lake will do.

That’s how the day often tastes: breakfast, a bit of road or canal, getting close to the horse, then either a carriage or a cart. On the way back, a shower, maybe a short nap. At dinner that evening, it’s different from the day on the boat, the day at the beach. It’s dark, quiet, a bit of exertion. Sometimes, on the third day, people are looking for that, without even realizing it.

If you’re staying in Dalyan, a morning swim in the canal is all you need. Those staying in Köyceğiz, Ortaca, and Dalaman can reach the same gate in a short time. On the Things to Do in Dalyan list, you can also take a donkey out for a ride; compete with a boat and the beach, or just take it for a stroll.
