A boat day, a riding day

The classic morning in Dalyan is on the canal, on a boat. The shallows, the slow water, the rock tombs, sometimes İztuzu. The taste of that day is different. The horse ride doesn’t take its place. It takes its place. One day on the water, one day on the horse. Or a short morning canal, an afternoon ride on the farm — it can do that, as long as you don’t cram three hours into the same afternoon.

You use a boat, and follow the path at Çandır. The same delta, the same vacation, but two different tempos. You sit in the boat, the wind blows in your face, the guide sometimes talks. On the horse, the body works, there is balance, the bird calls are closer. It would be a shame to compare the two and say which is better; they are both the face of this place.

Seeing Kaunos from the boat and going to the healing place is a day of history; the lake boat tour is a day of nature. The boat to Sultaniye is a separate program; we take a horse-drawn carriage to a quiet spring. The same day, boat + Sultaniye + two hours on the lake... that list is nice on paper, but tiring in practice. For us, choose one and leave the other for the next day.

In families with children, we often see the following rhythm: one day on a short boat, another day on the İztuzu, another day on the farm or on the lake. If the adults say “we want to go for a long time”, it’s the lake; if the children say “let’s go for a short time”, it’s the carriage. Both are from the same gate, Çandır.
