Ein Bootstag, ein Reittag

The classic morning in Dalyan is a canal boat ride. The reeds, the slow water, the rock tombs, sometimes İztuzu. That day tastes different. The horse tour does not take its place. It is placed next to it. One day is the water, one day is the horse. Or a short canal in the morning, a ride in the farm in the afternoon – it can fit, as long as you do not pile three hours into the same afternoon.

The boat uses the water, the horse follows the path in Çandır. The same delta, the same holiday, two different tempos. You sit in the boat, the wind blows in your face, the guide sometimes talks. On the horse, the body works, there is balance, the bird song is closer. It is a bit of a pity to compete with “which is better” – both are the face of this place.

Seeing Kaunos from the boat and going to the place of worship is a historic day; the lake is a nature day on horseback. The boat to Sultaniye is a separate program; we go to the spa on horseback, we descend to a quiet spring. The same day: boat + Sultaniye + two hours in the lake … that list is beautiful on paper, but tiring in practice. For us, we would definitely choose one and leave the other for the next day.

Bei Familien mit Kindern erleben wir oft diesen Rhythmus: ein kurzer Bootstag, ein Tag an der İztuzu und ein Tag auf dem Pferd – auf dem Hof oder am See. Wenn die Erwachsenen sagen „Wir möchten eine lange Tour“, ist der See richtig; wenn die Kinder sagen „Bitte kurz“, passt der Reitplatz. Beides beginnt in Çandır.
