The places to see in Dalyan are on the water and on history. A horse ride is not a stop to look at, but a day to ride; yet it is still part of the same vacation. The rock cliffs are visible from the boat; there is a theater at the site of the ruins. After the tour, the farm is nearby on the same bay. People sometimes point and say “we saw it” — horses are not pointed at, they stay in the day.

Kaunos: theatre, wall, bath ruins, cliff. Tomb facades are wet. The stone warms up in the afternoon; it’s softer in the morning or at dusk. İztuzu: sand, turtle, wind. During the nesting season, the night rules are stricter, and it’s best to read the day’s warning on the beach. Sultaniye and mud: boat, thermal, that smell. The deserted shore on the lake tour is a different sight; don’t confuse it with İztuzu, both are beautiful, both are different waters.

From Kaunos, the horse-drawn carriages stop at two stations in the same area. Iztuzu separates the beach from the horses. Sultaniye is a thermal beach. It is possible to “see” them all in one day, but it is difficult to remember. A three-day plan is available for those who want to spread it out.
