Çandır

One day in Çandır

Çandır is the village across the canal from Dalyan. The passage is narrow, the walk short. There are horses here; Kaunos is a little to the south; breakfast and Sultan Palas are on this side. The village is not a remote plateau. It is a coastal town. Breakfast in the morning, ride out in the afternoon, return to the town in the evening — or stay all day on this side. Both are beautiful, both have different rhythms.

The sound of the road is still there. There are birds, sometimes cocks, sometimes cars. When you reach the farm, there is straw, a horse, a shadow. The hot spring comes from this side; Kaunos is a little further down the same shore. When people ask, “What’s there in the village?” the answer is: life on the other side of the water, stones, horses, tables.

If you write Caunos Horses on the map, you open up that coast. Mavi Yasemin, Sultan Palas, and Kaunos are all neighbors in the same story. We think you should devote an entire day to this area. You don’t have to return to the city every night — but if you do, the town will be waiting for you in the light.

If you want to see the place, you can look at the map.
